Since someone has asked, I thought I would take a moment and discuss why I decided not to run for the district 1 seat currently held by Roosevelt Willis.
When I missed qualifying week while out of town, Carol Bass was asked to run for this seat as a conservative candidate. I would have had to get 125+/- signatures to qualify. I spoke with Carol in a 3 hour meeting about the D1 seat and the issues that I felt were important and we agreed 100% on all of the issues that I felt needed to be addressed by the new BOC.
We also discussed the ramifications of her and I running as a conservative candidate and the dilution of the votes by splitting them between us. We felt that it was more important that we ensure that there was a new commissioner rather than have me run basically against Carol.
At that time I was asked to run for the district 6 BOE seat and I politely declined. After several weeks of discussing the D6 BOE seat with people around the county, I decided to run for that seat.
I feel it's time we had a more conservative BOC and BOE so I decided to run and have qualified for the D6 BOE seat.
Yes they were too close. Last night and early this morning Swifts signs were moved onto the right of way. Maybe we should not blame Commissioner Swift, he cannot read a tape measure. Huh, he has no idea of a budget either.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Children stay in school, do not drop out.
