If they do not see any need for help with the traffic there they were there at the wrong time. We need to slow folks down just like in the school zone around the other two schools.
Well, it didnt take long for interim county manager Teresa Watson to take the usual Pike County Government line and declare herself completely not accountable in any way.
They need a stop/go/caution light at Old Zebulon road and Huygley Road before someone get killed. If the State won't do it, let the scholl board to initate it. Somebody has to, rather than passing the buck back and forth. To put the situation in layman terms--the current State atitude is a crock. But the state pays to hire a low bid contractor to do a sorry re-pave of McKinnley Road with stimulus money. That would have bought a number stop/go/caution lights. No more excuses. Time to get out state representatiaves working on this.
Not to be contrary; but, I don't see how a flashing light would have helped in this situation. There were 3 cars already stopped and the 4th car didn't stop.
It seems to me we need to work on paying attention while driving. Just as in the tractor wreck earlier in this same area, all you have to do is pay attention.

I second this! Pay attention folks, that's all you gotta do.
You really wanna know what the problem with traffic in Pike is? It is the parents of students. They are the most inconsiderate horrible drivers I have ever seen. They are in a rush to get the kids to school and are running late and drive like fools. There is a bus system for schools; USE IT. I am flabbergasted by the vast numbers of parents taking kids to school. I have seen these parents gather at the schools at 1400hrs. I often wonder are they employed? What kinda job allows them to be at the schools at 0900 and be back at 1400hrs. Is the unemployment rate in PC that high? Better yet, I see tags on vehicles that are from Spalding, Lamar & Upson. As far as a light at Hugley Rd. it “Ain’t going to happen”. The state will not consider for several reasons.
All parents of students do not drive like fools and not all parents are in a rush. It's up tp parents whether they would like to use the bus system or not and for those that choose not to use the system shouldn't be of verbal abuse. Watch the buses and see how the driver lets the kids stand up on the bus, hang out the windows and walk up and down the isles. i do not want my kid on a bus and the driver has no control...they are asking for an accident to happen. i am a parent from pike county and some parents are stay at home moms, some parents are self employeed, some parents have flexible schedules and it's ok if we choose to take our children to school. All of us do not drive like fools but i have seen a few as well as the high school drivers.
