The Pike County board of commissioners approved Bill Sawyer for the vacant county manager position. Sawyer's contract will include an $83,400 salary, two weeks vacation, use of county vehicles for county business, a county-provided cell phone and standard benefits package.

Good for Mr. Sawyer. I hope he takes the bull by the horns and does a good job for the taxpayers. I also hope he does away with the paid volunteer fire chiefs position. If chief Henderson can't volunteer for free like the rest then he ain't no volunteer.

No, it didn't. I have it safe and sound....and hostage. No Non-Americans are getting in at all. I am going to racial profile as much as possible. No politically correct crap anymore. Just old-timey rules that I personally approve. If you do not like it, get your own courthouse.

I'm more than willing to give the new guy a break. I hope he does a good job for Pike. The last county he was manager of has a lot of the same issues with roads that we have here. At least he's experienced with that.

Also, when you google him you don't get a bunch of problem stories in the local paper there.

I wish him the best.

MACON COUNTY MANAGER BILL SAWYER SAYS OVER THE PAST 4 MONTHS...PUBLIC WORKS HAS LAID DOWN MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH GRAVEL AND SAND TO REPAIR DIRT ROADS.

WITH EXTRA MATERIALS' COSTS AND OVERTIME FOR CREWS...SAWYER SAYS...THE COUNTY IS ABOUT 20 THOUSAND DOLLARS OVERBUDGET.

Do we have a gravel budget?

His comment there was due to the flooding that had been going on in his county, just is it was happening here. Aggregate is expensive.

I sincerely hope he's more responsive to our infrastructure needs than the last "manager".

We did not have a last county "manager." Never has been, never was and never will be. We had a Carpetbagger with a big head. 25 more days the joker is on the taxpayer payroll.

I truely hope he is someone who can take care of the workers that surround him, and do the mundane chores that keep the lights burning.
The last clown that occupied the position he's filling, and the "brilliant" IDIOT doing the budget/ finances left the place in chaos.

He will make it. He needs to keep code enforcement at all costs. Without code enforcement the grass would never get cut.
