It's almost a reflex for Americans to say, "Immigration is what made America great."

That's like saying "food does a body good." Well, yes, but not all kinds. And not in any amount. We just had a 20-something Augustan die recently from complications of obesity, after all.

Well said. I agree. The illegal immigrants need to be apprehended and incarcerated until a load is secured. Then they should be delivered back to their Home Sweet Home. This leaves room for the LEGAL applicants for American citizenship. Viva la Arizona.........

A Texas lawmaker says she plans to push for a law similar to Arizona's get-tough immigration measure. Republican Debbie Riddle of Tomball says she will introduce the measure in the January legislative session.

The new Arizona law would require local and state law enforcement to question people about their immigration status — and make it a crime for immigrants to lack registration documents.

Riddle says if the federal government did its job "Arizona wouldn't have to take this action, and neither would Texas."

Illegal immigrants need to be sent back to the country they came from. If you are not willing to go thru the process of citizenship then you need to go home. Good for you Arizona...its about time someone took a stand. Georgia needs to follow suit. These illegals are draining our country and hard working taxpayers. They are taking American dollars and sending it back to their country. They pay no taxes. They get free health care and the list goes on. Send them back...the sooner the better.

The scene in Arizona will not be unlike Nazi Germany when the Jews were rounded up by the gestapo. Whats next, internment camps? I wonder if this will wind up on Glenn Becks chalk board.

Sir or Madam,

It is strange that you find this action to be an act of fascism. For you to compare this law to the acts of Nazi Germany and the Jewish is pure conjecture. You might remember that the Germans invaded the countries that the Jewish occupied, which is hardly the case in this matter.

Have you traveled in any other country within the past 15 years? Were you required to present identification in the form of a passport? Is this not the same thing as what is being required in the state of Arizona? The only difference in this circumstance is to which the identification is being requested. The illegal immigrants are not coming here by seaports, or airports. We are being forced to require identification of suspect individuals because they may be here illegally.

I don't see how this is different than any other situation that would involve law enforcement, you break the law i.e. speeding, traffic violation, domestic violations or such and you get asked for identification. If you have nothing to hide, then what is the problem? Wow, what a concept!

If you are here legally, whether a natural born or naturalized citizen you will have some form of identification on your person.

I fail to see your point as nothing other than liberal, bleeding heart drivel.

If you come to this country illegally and violate our laws, you deserve to be extradited back to your country. Nothing more...nothing less.
I concur with the actions of Arizona, and hope that their actions will enlighten the Federal Government as to the proper actions required for the betterment of the United States.

You need to open your eyes and see the big picture, your blinders or rose colored glasses have tainted your view to the point of obscurity.

Well sir..if you will recall from your history class, Jews also lived in Germany as German citizens. These German citizens were also placed in concentration camps. They were racially profiled and required to wear a yellow star. They were considered second class citizens (if that) and people constantly looked down on them with suspicion. Sound familiar??

You seem to be confused as to what is included in the new law.
It is now legal in Arizona for an American citizen (who is NOT committing any crimes) to be approached by police and be required to provide identification and proof of immigration status if the police determine with “reasonable suspicion” that they are illegal. A driver’s license is not valid proof of citizenship as it can be obtained illegally. Do you carry your birth certificate with you as you conduct daily business? Should you have to as an American!!!!!!!!!! These American citizens are not traveling to another country; they are in their OWN COUNTRY!! I suppose you are light skinned so you could care less but I assure you, if Mexicans looked like white people you would be very angry at this bill.
It is funny how some people are willing to fight to the death to defend their 2nd amendment rights but the 4th amendment is unimportant. And better yet, people are so wrapped up in their own self interests that they cannot comprehend that this bill is ILLEGAL!! The constitution is the constitution.
There are better ways to handle illegal immigration than for Americans to give up their constitutional rights.

I'm trying to understand your comparison of nazi Germany and the Arizona immigration law. Isn't the new law geared to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into our country, by capturing them after they have ILLEGALLY crossed our borders, as opposed to the nazis, whose intent was to eradicate an entire race of people. Have you never been asked by a law enforcement officer to show your I.D.? Or do you have a herd of illegals doing your yardwork and laundry and cooking your meals. I'd rather suffer the pain of not having ANY illegals in my country, and put up with the braying jackasses who defend them for breaking the law of the land.

Well how about this..criminals use guns to kill people everyday. We should stop the killing and regulate gun sales and ownership. Oh but wait..that is a violation of 2nd amendment rights!! (actually it isnt because law abiding citizens may still purchase weapons, but that is another argument)...so anyway is it not a violation of 4th amendment rights to search and demand proof of citizenship from someone who is committing no crime except that their skin is not a white as another persons? (fyi, racial profiling) (and for you southerners, not all American citizens are white rednecks).
I hate to point out the hypocrisy in this but the 2nd amendment is not more important than the 4th just because it is listed first in the constitution.
