The courtroom was filled with concerned citizens for an animal control meeting hosted by Citizens to Promote Pike on April 20. Pike sheriff’s deputies started the meeting by discussing animal issues in the county.

Are you kidding me???? Do the citizens of Pike County think that we need more government telling us what we can and cannont do. Give me a break! Don't think it should be up to the county to tell me how many animals I can have.

I hope we can get something done here in Pike for homeless and viscious animals. I see so many people who get a dog or two or three and will not care for them. Our neighborhood lost the person who had the viscious dogs--he moved and thak goodness he took his dogs. They had killed a cat of mine and mamed another one. e need something.

Im hoping that something will be done soon. My family and I get atleast three dogs dumped out in our yard a year. One dog even came with a whole bag of his own dog food. We have had to try to feed or get someone to take these dogs because of other people being to sorry to take care of the animals. Luckily only two of the many dogs we have had dumped here turned out to be a problem. Really need somewhere for these dogs and a few cats to go,not able to feed them all.If you get an animal please take care of it.

I have a big fat ugly dog that I must find a home. I am moving and do not want to abandon him in Zebulon. If you could help me find a home for him I would be grateful. He loves Pike County.

Can someone tell me if it is permissible to shoot a dog if it comes on my property in Pike County?

yes it is. My parents had a dog from next door come on their property, trying to bite their grandson. My father was trying to run it off, and the dog owner come out and started arguing with my father.
The dog owner actually shot the dog and called the sherrif deputy there and said my father shot the dog.
The sherrif deputy said if a dog is on your property you can shoot it.

I lost my dog. He is a big fat ugly dog and answers to the name Marro. Yes, if he is on your property you can shoot him. Need ammo? I can give you a supply, I also have a few RPG's if you need them.

I cannot believe the Fire Chief is letting these dogs run loose doesnt he know it is the judges fault and if the people were paying attention then nobody would have hit the tractor if they would have put better gravel on the dirt roads because the baseball team was horrible because of the coach and they only won the region and everyone should be carrying a gun due to Turkey Buzzards and the music on the square is way too loud and people are having way too much of a good time and on the barn burned in Concord because they did not have enough pressure due to making Ice was too important for the county and they should never should have fire fees they should instead put it on my property taxes because that way it would cost me more money. What are these people thinking. GEESH

Yep, the Fire Chief is destroying our county form of government. I heard he is putting something in our well water to make us zombies like JC and his pollcatters. Now the Fire Chief wants the judicial building named the Henderson 1 Morrison Susan 3 Pat 2 Center. Only in Clayton County can they run our Pike.

I agree it is hard to think of the government telling us how many animals we can have.
There are people that have ruined it for all of us by not being resonsible pet owners.
I cant count how many sick and injured dogs/puppies have been left on side of the road near my home. Once there was a litter of pups all had been hit by a car and were dead except one she was our loving pet for 13 years. Some looked starved and sick.
This is why Pike needs help..because there are mean and uncaring folks that think its ok to go down roads and leave their pets.....This is Not good at all.

I had a big fat ugly dog crawl under my fence and was kissing my favorite goat. A woman who owned the fat ugly dog got there just in time. She yelled Marro, Marro down. He whimpered over and she hauled him into her car by his ear. Now that is a true dog lover.

You are lucky. He got after my little calf and kissed her good. The owner came over and got him and promised to have him fixed. I have called the fire chief to see if she really did. In your case you might have to wait things out and see.

Have you thought about using Frontline on your big fat ugly dog rather than Viagra? Costs less and last for 30 days.

At this very moment I have a huge black Chow that looks like a bear, taking up residence in my backyard. He is injured pretty bad. It appears that he has been shot and he won't let anyone get near him. This is the 5th dog in the last 3 weeks that has tried to make my home their home. We need a shelter.

You better do something soon. Those rules say you must provide vet care. How long is a stray allowed to hang around before it's considered yours? And another thing, can the animal be put out of misery with your own gun or must you haul it to vet and pay him to do it for you?

It looks like from the rules you must have an underground fencing system or regular fence instead of having your dog on a chain or tie-out. I guess I'll get my dog a 4X6 kennel and put his supersized dog house in that instead of leaving him on his 35 ft. cable tie out.

I have left numerous messages on Chief Hendersons phone and he has not returned my call. There is a big black dog under my porch with about 9 puppies, I can't even go on my porch. Can't he do his job, thats what we pay him for.

Are the puppies big fat and ugly? Does the mother look abused? Does she have fleas, ticks and crabs? If so call me I might know the daddy dog.
