Pike County magistrate judge Priscilla Killingsworth pleaded guilty to one count of unprofessional conduct Friday morning in Upson County superior court.

REALLY... YOU ALL NEED TO GET A LIFE... I do not even live in Pike and haven't for some time but, I can say that I have on more than one occasion had dealings with judge Killingsworth, her grandaughter and the rest of her staff, no I have never been before her or Judge Rakestraw for any reason, but my point is if all of you who are "bashing" would sit back and look and think "hum has anything like this ever happened to anyone in my family, and did I like all of this negative publicity" I hate to tell everyone of you so called Christans, that if you were truly as Christian as you claim you would stop all this bashing. They have families you know. 97% of americans have skeletons iin their closet, you have the caught and uncaught....

Killingsworth's granddaughter Brandy Vaughn told me once I was parked in the Magistrates parking space on county property and I must remove my vehicle. I had to move my car and go back inside to conduct my business.

I do hope Priscilla and Brandy removed all those stupid family pictures from the JUDGE'S office before they left.

Why don't you run for office maybe you are as qualified as Priscilla was since she only knew babysitting and hairstyling and really wasn't very good at either, atleast she might have tried to have an honest grand daughter working under her. (Can you spell nepotism) Just because they were dishonest does NOT mean that Loretta Rakestraw was, I will never believe that about her and atleast she is qualified for the position, she has to sit in court and tell Priscilla what is the right protocal anyway. Maybe The X Judge and her Family can help with the mugshot photos mentioned earlier, They can always cornrow hair (aka braid) if they open a new salon. Best thing to do is clean house from the bottom up and do not re-elect anyone already in office..

For $70? The cost of the arresting officer's time would be more than that. The last time I got a speeding ticket it was over $250; so the government's value of my doing 83 in a 60 is worth more (3 times as much). I didn't get arrested for a crime valued at $250. What makes you think she should be arrested? The punishment should fit the crime. This whole thing was for public humiliation; not to enforce the law. Someone (I'm not suggesting I know who, I have no idea what prompted an in depth investigation for 70 bucks) got what they wanted; I hope they're satisfied. Regardless of what I think about it, though, wrong is wrong and retribution must follow.

great comment carter. i agree and think this whole thing was a joke. investigating over a year for 70.00. people want it to be more but no more charges cost time of gbi and thousands and thousands of tax payers money. to make a point for someone that probably wanted her job. i always heard there was only 2 type of people, caught and uncaught. someone was out to get prisilla and did, but if that is all they found it was complete waste of money. especially when the 70.00 was replaced way back yonder.

I hate this... I still believe that she is a great lady and just tried to make up for wrong done by family.. You will do crazy stuff for your kids and grandkids. I'm no lawyer (but I am good enough to play one on TV) - I'm pretty sure if we looked at the docket it would read the State of Georgia v. Killingsworth. Civil cases are about money only most of the time (you can't sue someone and make them get probation-unless they mistreat the court in some way). Think back about the OJ trial, first it was a criminal court (which requires beyond the shadow of a doubt) then there was the civil trial (preponderance of evidence).

All things considered, PK was never accused of stealing $70-and I'm fairly confident she never stole anything. She may have known someone else had taken money and failed to act in a responsible manner, I believe that was the guilty plea. I'm not sure anyone else would have done any better in that situaiton, which is why most companies have rules about family/subordinate relationships. The DA may have an open records policy (the district in which I reside does, but it is not like the sunshine law, it's just how our guy does it). If the DA will let anyone check it out, I'd encourage the PJR folks to look into it and take another swing at this story. I'll bet there isn't anything else to report, though. It was a witch hunt and it is over.

If professional misconduct is a crime 'by itself', the GBI better get cracking on a lot more folks all over the state. I think it was the hunt for money more than the misconduct. Also, about that 70 bucks: was it not deposited, albeit late?

Reading all the comments can be interesting. I have lived here all my life and have seen a lot of changes. I am sorry to hear what has happened to Mrs. Killingsworth but she made her on decision. Her office is not the only office costing us money. There was someone in the commissioners office that cost us lots of money at one time (she is now gone) but nothing was done to her besides firing her. There was money found in building and zoning that was not deposited in a timely manner yet nothing was done there. Unfortunately for us tax payers there seems to always be something wrong in our government offices. (Not just county offices at that)

I don't believe there was 30k, I mean I believe he said it, but I don't believe there was that much-he was just trying to make it sound more dramatic. And, the pay through May was most likely contractual. If the county didn't pay him, and he sued, it'd probably cost more to defend the firing than to just pay out the contract. It has nothing to do with who has balls, it has to do with making the best financial decision for me as a taxpayer. Sometimes you have to put your testosterone in check while you make the best business decision, that's just the way it is. If he stole, he'll pay the price for that. Marro is gone, just let him go, and it is my hope our animosity will go with him, at least in part.

It is quite rude of you to bring up my Mother's name. She was a wonderful lady who supported three children while working in The Martha Mill, as our Dad left when I was three. (On a bus...no goodbye) She dies in 2000. Visit her grave if you like. You will see a beautiful picture of her on it. I am glad she raised me with enough grace to drop this and let The Valley People take over. There are obviously two sets of Browns. I love the ones kin to me. They are classy.

As far as Alma goes, I grew up with her feeding us chili dogs and I never heard her gossip any more than all the folks at church. In fact, I know she helped some people who were in need, anonymously. If you really know so much about the valley, and you got an anonymous envelope with cash in it (because, say, you were a widow and needed a roof on your house), it may have been from Mrs. Tolley sending her grandson and one of his friends to sneak it in your mailbox at night(and, you know she didn't have much herself). It sorta reminds me of the lady in the Bible who gave only 2 coins, but that meant more than all the other donations combined-you know the rest of the story. Even with that, she didn't take a whole lot of crap off anyone. Sounds like you might have crossed her and got put in your place; she was really good at that, too. I would like to tell you to go to hell for saying that about Alma, but it just doesn't seem like it would be enough.

Sheila has done enough on her own to make fun of/poke at/expose that you really don't have to talk about her mom - or anyone else in her family for that matter. She's lived her life like an open book; which is why most of us love her because she's 'for real' and lives life wide open.

It is very disrespectful in any capacity to bring up such a thing, even if you're trying to defend yourself against Sheila. Use your intellect of which you seem so proud; not a personal attack on her deceased mother's character. Highly inappropriate, very low, even for a Brown (of any gene).

As far as Barry goes, and if you really know so much about that family then give Barry a little lee-way he was never treated as the Golden Child, and he wasn't any worse than Virgil as a kid. Atleast he is a loyal person and will be there if you need him. Virgil will come also if you can afford him. I love them both but I ain't blind to the facts there either. Barry is 100% BROWN and Virgil has his days when he is 100% MANGHAM just like Margaret. If he is having a Brown Day no one is more fun or entertaining. I love Barry, I was poking at you about his ex's. He & I shot pool before I could even drive a car (and I took Kim to my senior prom). I have great respect for Virgil, making his own way - and, should I ever need someone in his capacity, he would be the first person I'd call. I'm not sure what to think about Virgil being in the right place at the right time, you have to finish 3 yrs of school for a JD and I think he did it in 2 yrs (that's just because he's that smart, has little to do with timing).

I don't travel to Concord much - I have been over to Mac's a time or two, but that was only for my own family (it's just too far to drive).

Alma was quite a pistol. I bet she did rattle your cage.

Are you their sister and I just never knew they had one? I love and respect Margaret, she's a true inspiration. I find it hard to believe one of her folks would say such things - but, I guess we all got a wide variety of folks in our families.

To finish my comment yesterday, Danny. First of all, The Zebulon Florist is still open.....AND BETTER THAN EVER. I love places that continue to be friendly no matter how much time passes between visits. Back to the point. Margaret Brown has known me for 59 years and 7 days. Accurate, huh? You see, I was a seven months baby. Margaret found my Mother after she had practically hemorrhaged to death at home. She called upon my Aunt Ozarlean Barron and the two of them took Mama to Old Dr. Head's clinic in Zebulon. He told my Mother that I did not stand a chance of living but she stood a small chance. I say all that because if I had said, "Margaret saved my life one time," it would have been greatly under estimated. Now to the good part about Margaret that I remember VIVIDLY. As a kid, we had to sell little junk for school like they do today. Only difference being, we walked up and down the road selling it. Our parents did not take orders at work for us. Patricia (Sandefur), my sister Gail and me, loved to hit at Margaret's house. The sequence was not really even important, because Margaret always bought from all of us. (As did... Betty Sandefur, Reedy Coventry, Martha Trice, Mrs. Pilcher and Mrs. Jewel Reeves) You will remember some of these Ladies, Danny. I just enjoyed being the first to get to Margaret's house. Even though, she never failed to say, "tell Gail and Patricia I am home." Margaret knew me 49 years before I found out about my birth story. My Mother told me on her deathbed. Margaret has still not 'Til This Day' mentioned it to me. I thank and love you, Margaret......I hope you like the flowers.

I do not feel sorry for her.My ex-husband was court ordered to refrain from drinking around my son in our divorce. He had weekend visitation and was toasted. He,his attorney,and Pike Co.sheriffs arrived at my apt.and demanded I let him go with him. I said no ,because he was drunk. I was told I needed to go down to Magistrate to talk to Killingsworth because the court house was closed. My ex was sitting in front of her drunk and she told me if I didn"t let him go she would lock me up. She paid no attention to what the divorce papers said or nothing, putting my son in danger. I've not cared for her since. I know this has nothing to do with her stealing money, but I'm glad she finally got what she deserves. I think she should serve time for what she has done. If they furthered the investigation they would find alot more.

My point is, 90% of what's written here is a pathetic representation of humanity and all that's wrong with the world and in particular, Pike County.

So many posters hide behind the cloak of anonymity (you included)trash people to bits and write things they wouldn't DARE say if they had to use their real name or stand up and say it in public.

Why the Pike County Journal Reporter legitimizes such behavior by providing a forum with very little oversight, monitoring and accountability is something I don't understand. Too many of the comments on here- Molly,293 Anonymous posters, and God forbid, Pearl Neclace (DO YA' KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, WALTER?)-represent the dregs of humanity, not the kind, loving, salt-of-the-earth people I grew up with.

Reading these blogs makes me sad for what too many people have become- and it makes me sad for what Pike County has become, if this is in fact, a fair representation. The fact that Pike County Journal Reporter provides a format for such vile, uncivilized behavior is a discredit to serious journalism. Rights come with personal responsibility and there are limitations to free speech.

Don't bother telling me to not read it if I don't like it- that's BS. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. I'm going to work to pull this thing out of the ditch and I hope you will join me in doing so.

Don't know who u r lc, but I like u. I wonder why Walter has allowed the sexual comments as well; but, it is pretty easy to gasp and then move on to the next topic. I was recently on a bus w/my wife and these guys behind us were using MF about every other word-I had to stand up and confront; they were apologetic and backed up pretty quick, but that was face-to-face. Anonymous and lack of face-to-face accountability make this forum 'wide open' to the bottom feeders. It could be immature school kids or our neighbors, either way it is good to have at least some level of filtering. Kinda reminds me of the justice who tried to distinguish between art & porn, saying "I know the difference when I see it". We need Walter to know the difference when he sees it. Good call.

There's not many laws in Georgia that protect women and children. Nancy Schaefer did all she could to do something about it. She even told how DFCS mistreated them.

There are over a 100 women murdered or missing in the state of Georgia every year.

Half the problem is the law.

There's more going on in Pike County than what Priscilla and Brandy did, but the ones doing it aren't women that I know of.

I hope with Gods help to fix this!

I dont know much about this case, but I have thought for years PK was not good at what she got paid for...I had a renter..took to small claims..other party no showed...We "won" then renter came in a week late and made some kind of deal with PK and We got $183 thats it. I loaned a so called friend some money, it was all done legally and I have the proof.

She had lied to me when borrowing the money I found out later, and she didn't do what she was suppose to do!

I went to someone to find out what to do about it. They looked at the paper work and called it theft by deception! I was told to bring charges on her.

Priscilla told me I couldn't bring charges on her because I would lose. She convinced me the best way to get my money back was small claims.

At the time I trusted Priscilla. It dawned on me later she never even saw the paperwork. How did she know I would lose.

The day of court I was late. When I pulled in Priscilla was out side talking to the girls Ex-Husband. I wondered what she was doing talking to him!

I won the case! That was 2006. I still want my money.

The person I showed the paperwork to in the first place ask me what happened. He then told me I should have brought her up on charges because she would still have to pay me back after jail time. It's called restitution.

Now I have to chase her from job to job pay garnishee cost over and over because she floats from job to job to avoid paying me.

I'm sure if paying me back was part of her probation I'd have some of my money.

I'm glad the District Attorney in PIKE County did his job. When $8.4 Million in misappropriated funds at Gordon College was discovered by a state audit several years ago, the District Attorney ONLY presented it as information to the Grand Jury!!! Those who misappropriated the funds (YOUR taxpayer dollars) walked away! At least, the Pike County District Attorney does his job!

Glad to see her gone!!! She was supposed to follow Georgia law in her rulings which in my case she did not. She let her Granddaughter come to court (that would be court not just work)with overalls on (which I thought was very unprofessional), and important timely paperwork mysteriously disappeared at that office....Huh...I have been wondering for years how she kept her job!!! I'm sure for her to resign there must be alot more to this than has been reported.

I am Priscilla's youngest granddaughter, and yes my real name is Christian and I for one am not afraid to let you all know my REAL name. I live in Florida so I don't get to hear everything that goes on. When I found out about what had happened I was automatically disappointed and then I thought about the rest of the family. I wanted to read the story so I got on the computer to see what was in the paper. Then I came across this blog. I could not believe some of the things that you all were saying. Yes it was wrong what was done and I will not sit here and try to pretend that "what was done" was ok; but when I saw these comments about my family I was heartbroken. No family is perfect but the comments that you make have affect on the rest of the family. Children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The county that I grew up in and love so much has let me and the rest of the family (that doesn't work in the office) down. I'm not going to pretend to be religious because I'm not, but I do know that real people of God wouldn't say some of the things that I have read. As for Molly Brown, I hope that Karma kicks you in the ass one day. I would love to know who you really are. I would be paying you a visit dear. As for talking about the family and the ethnicity in our family, please grow up. You may find it fun to make fun because Brandy is married to a black man but they do have children and they do not pick their parents. They are innocent and if they were old enough to know what was meant by those comments I can't imagine how they would feel. Also, if you do not know my grandfather please do not talk about what an amazing man he was because he would not approve of the slander associated with my grandmama. I promise he would not think so highly of you so don't talk abou him like he knew him SOOOO well. As for the short dock comment, that was just out right nasty. How would you feel if someone said that about your mother or grandmother. Even if she did do wrong she's not a bad person. I know that this will probably have no effect on the conscience of you people but I wanted you to know what it feels like to be part of the family and know how much it hurts to have someone talk so badly about them. I hope nothing bad ever happens to your family because I don't think you could handle the slander, and don't ever say, "that will never happen to my family", because you are not untouchable no matter how good the family is.
