Pike County has announced the top three candidates for the vacant County Manager position. Interviews with the candidates are being scheduled.

This was a press release sent by the county commissioner's office to all local media outlets. More details will be available in the April 14 edition of the Pike County Journal-Reporter.

Hope nobody risks everything by actually moving here to find out how disorganized this place is and then regret coming here. I don't believe the citizens of this county will be happy with anyone. Everyone needs to play nice when we actually get a new manager.

Well stated. I have observed the other set of non elected officials (poll-cat posters) try and define the county by their values and principles. If they don't like any one particular aspect of "anything" they ban together and drive it into the ground. Or vice versa, they try and promote their agenda regardless of how it over-all effects Pike County for the good or bad.

Any CM will have a difficult road in Pike. Hopefully we get the best one this go around.

Your right David, Pollcatters are involved for the good of the Pike County Homeowners.
It was Pollcatters that stopped the townhomes/apartments. It was Pollcatters that forced the hand of the BOC to replace the condemned Fire Station # 2. Pollcatters Rock!

I think as long as the new county manager whoever he is has a small town mindset and not a "Let's grow us another Clayton/Henry/Insert other large county here" way of thinking, he will be welcomed.

"Robert Thomson of Tybee Island". It's my understanding that most of the citizens of Tybee like their smallness and laid back style. I would like to know if this gentleman is of that mindset or was he frustrated that the citizens didn't want "progress"?

That is the problem with Pike County we need to hire form the county not look outside of Pike if The County Manager Finalist want to take the job and are so good why are the leaving their job ? I sure their are lots of people that can fill the job!!!!!

When you say "we", are you referring to all anonymousness, and are you unanimous in that? I mean if y'all got together and elected a spokesperson (a single spokesperson), that will make our responses so much more efficient. Please clarify, then I can finish my thought...

Do you think there is more than one of them? I mean with a couple of exceptions, they all spell their names the same. Except of course when they are pretending to be one of us.

I have lived in Pike County all my life and I am qualified (according to their advertisement for the position) to be the county manager. I have the experience and the degrees. Through the years, many people have asked me to run for office in the county or to apply for the position of county manager. While I see many ways to improve the county, and keep our "country" county that we love, I wouldn't touch the positions in Pike County (elected or not-elected)!!! It is truly a poor system of government and procedures run by the elected and those appointed to non-elected positions have no chance of success because of those we have in office! I LOVE PIKE COUNTY, and I do NOT understand why the citizens of the county continue to elect their commissioners by popularity rather than qualifications. Then, our commissioners ALWAYS know more than the QUALIFIED person that they hired to manage the county! I sit amazed and watch our county being run and ruined.

Hopefully with the fall elections, we can begin to replace the commissioners with some that are capable.
