On April 2, the Lady Pirates soccer team, at 10-1 entering the game, honored its three graduating seniors while hosting Riverwood High School in a non-region contest.
In a hard fought game, the Lady Pirates forced a tie after falling behind early in the first half when Riverwood, (7-4-2, ranked tenth in Class AAA entering the game) scored on a break-away against senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Harvey.
After conceding the first goal, the Lady Pirates turned up the pressure on the Riverwood defense through the rest of the first half until freshman Elizabeth Woodall pushed a goal across following a mad scramble in front of the Riverwood goalkeeper.
The Lady Pirates resumed action on Tuesday, April 6, at home against Perry High School then away against Upson Lee Friday, April 9, at 5:30 p.m. Their final region game, in a potential battle for first place in the region, will be at home Tuesday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. against Eagle's Landing Christian Academy.
