Keep tobacco tax increase alive

The Georgia House’s failure to approve a tobacco tax increase, while instead agreeing to levy a new tax on hospitals, is quite frankly baffling.

When I was a kid back in mid 70's, under 10 yrs old, me and my brother would always buy cigarettes for my parents for 75 cents a pack

I am not a smoker. Why isn't raising taxes on cigarettes discrimination? If they are of age, in an approved smoking location, they are not breaking a law. It is their lungs, their money, and their life.

The tanning bed has already been taxed. Is coffee next? Then Red Bull? We should tax Big Macs and fries they are killing our youth. Video games, cell phones, anything electronic.....triple the tax.

In another year, obama will be taxing taxes.

Luxury Tax .... if you are gonna hit hard on the smokers also do the same on big mac's

In politics....it is all about the bucks. If enough people drank goat milk.....it would be taxed and goat farmers would be required to register them. If so many people are killed by drunk drivers, why keep making alcoholic beverages? Because it brings so much revenue to the counties with license to sell alcohol. The counties really want people to drink, get DUI's, speed, impede traffic, etc. They surely do not want people to be killed but trust me, they love the revenue from seemingly small crimes. In my opinion, you will see marijuana legalized in the near future. Unlike Bill Clinton, I really never have smoked marijuana. I really think it should be legalized because to call it a controlled substance is "as funny as it gets!" Leave the cigarette smokers alone. They have been taxed enough. Tax cell phones and camouflage clothing. When a person is caught using a cell phone while driving.....they should be incarcerated.

But it is such a hassle. I should try that. I could put a marijuana plant in each row and then and Law Enforcement would pick it for me.

Senators and Congressmen cannot afford to pay more. They will vote themselves another pay increase.
