President Barack Obama has called off a diplomatic trip to stay in Washington for what appears to be an historic health care vote this weekend.

I wonder why we can't just extend a revision of EMTALA into private practices rather than revamping all of healthcare. Whoa, I think I probably just made some docs angry! Really, its going to be cost shift hydraulic no matter what we do as a nation. We have to care for the poor somehow. Private payers/insurers already finance the shortfall for government reimbursements, it's been that way for over 20yrs. AMA is too strong of a lobby force, though, so EMTALA 'like' rules for private practices will probably never happen. We don't need to fix the parts that are working; we only need to fix the part that is broken (caring for the poor in the most efficient way). Providing govt backed/forced insurance is not going to be efficient for any of us (taxpayer, provider of care, or recipient of govt forced coverage, etc.).

The military draft may not be effective. American mistake number 1. But get ready for Draft into Medical School if you have good grades. Like it or not, somebody has to be a doctor.....no matter how small the pay.

Might as well shut the country down and give it to the mexicans. Quit workin and go on welfare. Move to Guatemala and let that govmint take care of us. Better yet, move to Iran and threaten to kill some headbangin' camel herder cuz you don't like his politics. You're mad as hell and won't take it any more
