(From Captain Tony Ranieri, Spalding Co. S.O.)
A Griffin couple has been arrested and charged with False Imprisonment and Cruelty to Children according to Sheriff Stewart. Stewart said that officers were called to a residence on Highfalls Road to check the welfare of kids that were left home alone.
When the officers arrived they could not get anyone to the door. The officers began to check the outside of the residence, when they found the back door open. Stewart said the officers went inside where they found a 1 year old and a 3 year old locked in a bedroom with no adults at the residence.
Stewart stated that investigators called the parents on the phone and learned they were at a club in Locust Grove. When the parents arrived they were identified as Matthew Autrey 25 years old of Griffin, and Ashley Autrey 24 years old of Griffin.
Sheriff Stewart stated the couple had their first appearance hearing yesterday and bond was set by the Magistrate Judge @ $36,500.00.
The couple has not made bond and are still in the county jail.
These stupid parents were probably raised in a similar environment (the apple does not fall far from the tree). Luckly these children are safe and hopefully the cycle is broken so that these children do not grow up to become unproductive adults that seek help from entitlement programs and receive the wrath of conservatives everywhere. "why dont you get a job you sorry leech"..probably because they never learned these values..monkey see, monkey do..so should they still starve or should we be good Christians and show them the way? A life is a life, no matter how big or small.
That is a terrible circumstance for the little kids; to have not only one parent, but BOTH parents who would do such a thing. What are the chances of that - wow - just so unpleasantly amazed at some folks.
Hope they find a productive way to fill that gaping hole when they grow up. Sometimes people look at the wrong fix for what ails them.
We all know this isn't the first time they've been left alone, this is just the time the parents were caught.
I remember my Mama rocking me, singing to me and cooking me ginger bread cookies.
I remember my Daddy driving around with me standing next to him, playing with me, and tossing me in the air.
Going to a club is pure neglect. That sounds like drugs to me.
