The Griffin-Spalding County School System announced Thursday three finalists for the position of principal at Griffin High School.
Narrowing down the applicants from 55, Scott John, principal at Pike County Middle School, Andria McNeal, assistant principal at South Effingham High School, and Keith Simmons, principal at the Monroe County Achievement Center, were recommended to Superintendent Curtis Jones by an interview committee.
Asked why no employee of the local school system was among the finalists, Director of Human Resources Andy Matthews said that all applicants receive a set of questions, and each committee member then gives scores to the responses.
Two internal applicants made it to the second round, she said.
“We don’t go into (the interviews) with an outcome planned,” she said. "There’s not even a set number of finalists to be recommended to the superintendent."
“After the interview committee scored these three individuals as the top finalists for the Griffin High School principal, I spent a most enjoyable day talking to each of them,” Curtis Jones noted. “They are fine candidates, and the Griffin-Spalding County School System would be fortunate to have any of them as administrators.”
The Griffin-Spalding County Board of Education is expected to vote on Jones’ final choice at its meeting Tuesday.
Just remember, not all things are always what you hear. You should have learned that by now just from reading the comments about the cuts. Stop the gossip......Dog is man's best friend because they wag their tail rather than their tongue.
ummm I can't help but wonder if he's excited to get out of Pike? Pike Co. can't afford to lose educators such as Mr. John. Our children NEED them. However I guess it's more important to some in Pike that they run their mouth once again about "hear say". You need to realize that what you reap, you will sow. Only this is at the cost of our children. I am sad that my other 2 children haven't had the chance to have him as a leader YET! Great luck Mr. John to wherever you go. Please know that you will be MISSED by more than you know.
Good luck, Scott.
BTW - I don't know anyone who lives in a glass house in pike. That would be something to see.
When the good ol' boys were running the county, it took 1/3 the amount to educate a child (adjusted for inflation) and the county budget was 3 million instead of 11.
As far as my statement you can go look at the Georgia BOE website and do the calculations and figure out for yourself that we are spending 3x as much to educate a child and that is adjusted for inflation.
He beat out a great man for principal of primary and that man left in a hurry and quietly. I suspect a scandal but no proof of it.
I can't even remember his name but he was great and everyone really liked him.
