Judge calls for modification of case

Judge Tommy Hankinson filed a motion for modification of an emotional vehicular homicide case in which a Pike County father of seven was killed. The case will be held in the Pike County courthouse at 9 a.m. Friday.

Good gracious, accidents happen. It's not like he had any intent to do any harm to anyone. Get off your soap box and put the emotion away, and look at facts for a change.

Maybe if it were one of your loved ones then maybe you would have a different outlook on the situation.

Be honest. How many times have you driven while being tired/sleepy? I do every morning when I go to work. I agree, accidents happen. I would still say that if it were my loved one that was taken from me.

HE SHOULD SERVE EVERY MINUTE OF HIS TIME. NO MODIFICATION AND THE JUDGE IS A FOOL FOR WANTING TO DO SO. THIS IDIOT SHOULD SEE THAT WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG AND THAT HE NEEDS TO USE THE TIME HE WAS GIVEN TO THINK ABOUT HIS ACTIONS I THINK HE GOT AWAY WITH MURDER LITERALLY AND HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FRIED. HE KNOWINGLY GOT BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR WHILE TIRED AND KILLED SOMEONE. LET HIS ASS SIT AND THINK ABOUT WHAT HE DID. THE JUDGE DIDNT EVEN ENFORCE HIS SENTENCE ANYWAYS.

You are right, punish those who go out and commit crimes and intend to do wrong unto others.

But don't punish someone who had an accident without any malice or intent.

If you had been punished each time you made an accident or mistake without any malice nor intent on your part, you'd probably die in prison, no?

point to ponder; Driving while tired or sleepy is not a crime.

All I can say is I hope none of you who dont know what it really feels like to lose someone never have to go through what my family has gone through with this. You can all say " you would feel a certain way" but if you have never experienced it you can NOT honestly say how you would feel. Yes it was an accident but the accident wouldnt have been caused it someone had not of gotten behind the wheel and drove home knowing they were that tired. Especially after admitting they feel asleep several times and still didnt pull over. Now tell me that was an accident. NO. If you fall asleep several times and still continue driving that is just ignorant. Yes Im sure everyone has driven tired. But to keep falling asleep and still keep driving that is no accident. Some of you who have no idea what its like to go through this kind of pain you should just sit back and shut your mouths.

Again, how you "feel" is irrelevant in a criminal court proceeding. It is unfortunate, but irrelevant.

This should never have been handled criminally anyway. Now civally, thats another story.

Accidents happen, I'm sure you've had an error in judgement and made a few yourself. You turning yourself in?

Im sure you are one of HIS ignorant family memebers. B/c if you wasnt then you wouldnt be talking that way. But that is ok. You see where ignorance gets you. It got my father killed. Yes there is feelings involved, my family lost someone very dear to us b/c of an ignorant act. So you think he should have not even got in trouble? That is ignorant also. But I will not lower myself to your low standards to even argue with you. I will let karma work the way it works. The only way he could get away with the CRIME he committed is to pay the judge of and bring in a preacher (poser) to make him look good. But we all know the truth. Like he was on myspace bragging about "The car crash cant hold this hustler down" That is Christ like? No. And then when he finds out he was caught then all of a sudden he was a Christian. It doesnt matter all that matters is if you do the crime do the time. GEEEZZZEEE. If it were someone else that could play a fake they would have to do there time for an "ACCIDENT"

and clearly you need to Pray...This is sad!I think you should turn the tables around! If that was your father who was driving and Jamal didn't not push through.Then you would be calling this was a accident(which mean no jail time at all) Honestly I am starting to feel this is a race thing!

First of all I am one of Don's daughters and wanted to put in my thoughts on this whole ordeal. All of you guys are on here arguing over whether this was an accident or not when you all have failed to look at the real side of this.How can any of you be so sure of what really happened when there were so many things left out of this investigation.How can this be a real investigation case when 1st off where were the witnesses who said Jamal smelt so strong of alcohol when they stopped that he didn't even want 911 to be called.Why were they never notified to show up for court?Because there must of been something to hide.And secondly how can you say it was an accident when NONE of the Doaty family showed any remorse for what he did.All Ms. Doaty could do was roll her eyes and talk as hateful as possible towards our family.How would you're family feel if it was my father who chose to drive drunk or tired as yall call it and took your son's life.You wouldn't want anyone to get away with that.Can't you just put yourselves in our shoes.Do you even know the value of your family members?And the so called christian life you guys lead you should know the 10 commandments and number 6 plainly says "Thou shall not kill."But after all that our family has been through and all Jamal has got away with we know that there is only one person who knows what really happened and he shall pay the price when his number is called. It takes a very guilty person to need a preacher from The House of God to back his lies!!!
