The second annual 5K Shamrock Run and Leprechaun Lap is looking for runners and sponsors to benefit the elementary school. The run and walk are set for March 13. Money raised will fund educational projects and technological equipment for the school.
Media specialist Mandi Beverly says the run and walk will raise funds for classrooms that need projectors so teachers can use educational Internet sites as a teaching tool.
"There are so many neat things teachers can do through the Internet for education right now," she said. "It'd be wonderful if they could project onto a roll-down screen or whiteboard because the TVs we have in the classrooms are 25-inch. The students can barely see the website or whatever is on the screen."
The 5K Shamrock Run will begin at 5 p.m. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children. The race will start at the elementary school. The Leprechaun Lap will begin at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children. Register by March 5 to get a T-shirt.
